Today’s reading: 1 Kings 20:26-30
King Ben-hadad of Syria is determined to overtake king Ahab and Israel, and is fairly confident that victory will be his the second time around. God, however, has a different plan. It’s pretty amazing how Israel’s small troops (“The people of Israel encamped before them [the Syrians] like two little flocks of goats…” vs. 27) easily defeat the massive Syrian army with God on their side.
As I thought about this scenario, God’s immense love for us came across loud and clear to me. Even though Israel is in a terribly weak spiritual condition, God continues to pursue and reach out to His people, and He does the same for us today. Thank you, God!
What’s one thing that stood out to you about God from this passage? How has God shown His love and faithfulness to you when you’ve found yourself in a spiritual valley or made choices that have resulted in a spiritually weak condition? Tami
