Today’s reading: 2 Timothy 1:8-18
The world today wants us to feel uncomfortable, ashamed, and embarrassed because we have chosen to follow Christ. I have a heavy heart about our nation’s growing negativity and its rejecting attitude toward Christianity, which seems to have accelerated over the past few years. But as I contemplate God’s Word, I’m reminded that it’s nothing new for God’s message of love and salvation to be met with much resistance. Regardless of the spiritual atmosphere, we must be bold about Christ. So I was thankful for Paul urging to Timothy to stand firmly on his relationship with God and to continue to confidently and boldly proclaim Christ through his testimony.
“But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me” (vs. 12).
Are you able to say like Paul, “I am not ashamed of Christ”? How do the people at your school, those you work with, your neighbors, and your family members know that you are a follower of Jesus? What helps you not shrink back when it comes to representing God to others? Tami
