Today’s reading: 2 Kings 11:4-21
When Athalia turned to killing her family members so that they couldn’t challenge her taking over as the next ruler of Judah, Jehosheba and her husband Jehoiada the priest protected and provided for Joash, the infant son of king Ahaziah. After six years of raising Joash in hiding, Jehoiada takes the steps necessary to put young Joash in his rightful place as the king of Judah. Taking this action was difficult and risky, but this man of God knew it was the right thing to do. For me, the highlight of chapter 11 was verses 17-21 where Jehoiada unifies Joash and the people, and then guides and directs them back to God.
