Today’s reading: Psalm 106:1-48
God is good and His “steadfast love endures forever!” is the opening proclamation of Psalm 106. The psalmist then shows us the truth of this declaration in the remaining verses of his song by looking back at the Israelites’ journey. Despite being God’s chosen people for whom God had performed wondrous miracles and works, the Israelites were repeatedly unfaithful to God. Yet God didn’t turn away or abandon them, even in His anger. These words in verses 43-45 spoke volumes to me:
“Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity. Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry. For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.” (Psalm 106:43-45)
What does Psalm 106 reveal about God as our Father and His love for us? How has God shown himself faithful to you and your family, even in times when you’ve turned away or been disobedient? Tami
