Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 11:7-10
As we close out Ecclesiastes 11, Solomon turns his attention to life in general, matter-of-factly reminding us that our life journey will be one that contains highs as well as many lows. I was particularly drawn to the words and message of verse 6.
“So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity.”
Life is a gift that’s all too fleeting. Our circumstances may not always be what we’d choose, but as we’ve seen time and again, we aren’t in control or privy to God’s master plan. That being the case, we need to make the most of both the good and the bad circumstances we encounter, keeping our eyes fixed on God and eternity.
