Today’s reading: Psalm 42:1-11
Psalm 42 reads like a back and forth dialogue of hope versus fear. But as David talks to himself about God, recalling His goodness and faithfulness and His steadfast love and protection, hope wins the day. As David intentionally focuses on God and what he knows is truth, he is able to push aside his doubts and fears and confidently proclaim, “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God” (vs. 11).
What’s one thing that encouraged you from this psalm, and why? When you’re wrestling with fear and doubts, do you ever (like David) talk through with yourself what you know to be true of God? Why is it important to look back at what God has done for you when you encounter difficult circumstances? Tami
