Today’s reading: 1 Peter 2:1-3
Once we receive Christ as our Savior, it’s God’s desire that we grow spiritually–that we become more and more like Christ and in so doing deepen our relationship with Him. But unlike physical growth that happens naturally, spiritual growth requires effort and intentionality from us. Thus Peter’s instruction in 1 Peter 2:1-3 to rid ourselves of sinful behaviors (malice, slander, envy, hypocrisy, deceit) and instead seek after and long for the right and wholesome truth (spiritual nourishment) we can only receive through God’s Word.
How often do you think about your spiritual growth and what you need to do to continue moving forward? On a scale of 1 to 10, how intentional are you about daily spending time in God’s Word? What’s the relationship between reading your Bible and “growing up into salvation” (vs. 2)? Tami
