Today’s reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-2
This week I started a Bible study group with three other women. We’re doing a study called Dancing with God: Finding Joy in Following His Lead by Dr. Tony Beckett. The original plan was for us to meet up each week and spend time discussing the lesson and its corresponding scriptures. But because of all the concerns and changes being implemented as a result of the coronavirus, we opted not to meet face-to-face and instead connect via conference call. As an extrovert who craves personal interaction, I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. But I have to tell you that it was a wonderful hour and a half for me. I came away feeling refreshed and encouraged. To conclude our study time, we agreed to seek God and ask Him how He wants each of us to help others with our actions and words during this time of uncertainty in our country.
All that to say, as I sat at my kitchen table this morning reading 2 Timothy 2 in preparation for writing this blog post, Paul’s directive to Timothy—to make sure to pass on to others the good news message he had heard Paul speak many times—stood out more than normal to me.
Not being able to meet with people face-to-face right now doesn’t mean that we should hunker down and go silent. Now more than ever people need to hear about God’s love and the peace we can have as a result placing our faith and trust in Christ. That means we need to be extra intentional about delivering words of life, hope, encouragement, comfort, and peace. And as we show God’s love (via phone calls, texts, messenger, social media, etc.), it will serve to encourage us too. Tami
